Origin

The history of wedding gowns dated centuries back. The trendsetter off white wedding gown is queen Victoria when she was married to her cousin Prince Albert. It was a heavily photographed royal, celebrity wedding. She wore a white dress in Honiton Lace which caught the attention of women all around the globe.


Colour of wedding gown

From Biblical times through the early 19th century, white was not traditional. Brides wore showier gowns in lush fabrics featuring gold or silver embroidery. Queen Victoria started the white trend in wedding gowns. the wedding dresses have variants in colors defined by culture. in eastern culture, brides are red symbolizing auspiciousness and good luck. In Japanese wedding multiple colors are used. Blue was a popular choice representing purity, piety and also symbolizing the Virgin Mary.

Silhouettes include empire, A-line, ballgown, Trumpet, mermaid, sheat...... The only thing that stayed relatively constant is the colour the most widely worn.
